Welcome from Mrs. Rause

Prior to becoming a teacher, I attended Washington & Jefferson College, in Washington, PA and earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in both Business Administration and Psychology.  I furthered my education at Duquesne University, in Pittsburgh, PA and earned my Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed), majoring in Special Education.  I am a PA certified teacher holding teaching certifications in Special Education N-12 and English 7-12.
Grade Levels/Courses Taught:
I am a 4th and 5th grade Learning Support teacher at Grandview Elementary.  I teach Reading Support, to 4th and 5th Grade students with IEPs, in a small group setting, using intervention programs geared toward remediating their instructional level skill deficits. I have been trained through the Wilson Academy to use the Wilson Reading System (WRS) within my Reading Support classes to help build my student's decoding, encoding, and fluency skills.
Work History/Background:
I began my teaching career as a Learning Support teacher at Steel Valley School District in Munhall, PA.  I furthered my career as a Learning Support/Emotional Support teacher at Pittsburgh Public School District, and an English/Reading Intervention teacher at Cornell School District, Coraopolis, PA before moving to Derry, PA with my family.  I am not only a teacher within the Derry Area School District, but also a community member, and a parent.  I feel extremely blessed to have the opportunity to teach in the same district my own children attend.
