Education/Degree/Certification:
I have a Bachelors of Science degree in Secondary Education Biology & General Science from Penn State University.  I also have a Masters degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Clarion University.
I am certified in Biology grades 7-12, General Science grades 7-12 and Earth & Space Science grades 7-12.
 
Department/Courses Taught:
I currently teach at Derry Area High School in the Science department.  The courses I am currently teaching are Biology (9th & 10th grades) and Genetics (10th, 11th & 12th grades).  I have also taught Astronomy, Environmental Science and Physical Science.
 
Work History/Background:
While at Penn State, I worked in the Human Genetics lab analyzing DNA samples for specific populations to determine their heritage.  After graduation, I worked for the AmeriCorps program for 2 years.  I first worked for the Penn State Cooperative Extension out of Indiana helping with early childhood education.  I then worked for the Kiski/Conemaugh Stream Team out of Johnstown doing water monitoring for abandoned mine drainage sites.  I also taught Biology for Somerset School District and Shade/Central City School District.  I then joined Derry Area School District in 2005.
