Welcome, from Mr. Ewing

     I attended IUP and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in music education.  I have also completed credits with Indiana Wesleyan University in curriculum and instruction to attain my level 2 certificate.

 

     I began my teaching career in 2003 at Greensburg Salem Middle School and High School as a chorus teacher, but I also taught band lessons and I was the assistant marching band director there.  I also restarted their jazz band program during the three years that I taught there.  (2003 - 2006)

     I came to Derry in the spring of 2006 as the high school band director.  During that time, I led the marching band, pep band, jazz band, and various other small ensembles.  I also taught some middle school general music during that time.  I left the high school in 2019 and I've been teaching general music at the middle school and Grandview elementary ever since.  The grade levels that I currently teach are pre-k, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 8th grades.

     As a musician, I have performed in the past on tuba with the Westmoreland and Johnstown symphonies and I frequently play guitar, bass, and banjo in many other local school district musical productions as well as a two local rock bands.
