National School Breakfast Program

Nutrition starts in SCHOOL
 
The School Breakfast Program is a federally assisted meal program that operates in the same manner as the National School Lunch Program.  The School breakfast must meet the recommendations of the Dietary Guidelines for America.  It must also provide one-fourth of the Recommended Dietary Allowance for protein, calcium, iron,Vitamin C and calories.
 
Students must choose 3 or 4 items to make a reimbursable breakfast-
 
GRAIN - May take ONE OR TWO grain items ( depending on size of item).  When available, a meet item may be offered in place of a grain item.
 
FRUIT* - May take up to TWO half-cup choices (MUST take at least one) When available, a vegetable may be offered in place of a fruit choice.
 
MILK - May take a cup of milk (8oz)
 
*MUST take at least 1 serving of Fruit (or vegetable when offered)
