Education:
I am a 1998 graduate of the Derry Area School District. I attended Mercyhurst (College) University and earned my Bachelor's of Science degree in Elementary Education in 2002, and I hold a Pennsylvania Teacher Certification in Elementary grades K-6. In 2008, I obtained my Master's of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Gannon University. I also hold a K-12 English Certification. I have been afforded the opportunity to earn credits from Penn Literacy Network through the University of Pennsylvania.
Work Experience / Grades Taught:
I was hired by the Derry Area School District and the Greater Latrobe School District in February 2002 as a day-to-day and long-term substitute. I became the Academic English Tutor at Derry Area High School during the 2002-2003 school year. I was then hired as a full time second grade teacher, teaching all core subjects, at Derry Area in 2005. I taught second grade for five years, until being administratively transferred to fourth grade. I have been teaching fourth grade since 2010, first teaching all core subjects, and for the last eight years specifically as an English Language Arts (ELA) teacher.
