Welcome from Mrs. Anderson
I attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Art Education in 2014. I graduated having obtained my teaching certificate.
I teach Art at Grandview Elementary to students grades Pre K-5. Students are able to explore a variety of thinking processes, art forms, materials, techniques, and sources for inspiration. Concepts are reinforced and strengthened through activities based on the elements of art and principles of design. Students view and consider art from different cultures and times, as well as their own art and art of their peers. Through exploration of varied media, including; drawing, painting, printmaking, textiles and sculptures, students learn basic art making skills while developing critical and creative thinking skills.
I started my teaching career at St. Bernard Regional Catholic School in Indiana, PA where I taught art to students in grades Pre K-8 for 4 years. I was hired at Derry Area School District to teach elementary art part-time in 2017. I became the full time art teacher at Grandview Elementary in 2019.
