I graduated summa cum laude from Saint Vincent College in 2002 with dual undergraduate degrees in History and Theology. In 2005, I graduated from Saint Vincent College with a Master of Science degree in Education, with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction.  I have additional graduate credits from the University of Pennsylvania and Augustana University in literacy.  My professional teaching certifications include: Social Studies (7-12), Business, Computer, and Information Technology (K-12), and Library Science (K-12).
Department/Courses & Grade Levels

In addition to being the Middle School librarian, I am currently teaching: Computer (6th grade); Career Explorations (7th grade); and Personal Finance (8th grade).
Work History/Background

I began my teaching career as a day-to-day and long-term substitute for the Derry Area School District in the 2003-2004 school year.  I was hired as a full-time BCIT teacher prior to the 2006-2007 school year.  Over my tenure with the Derry Area School District, I have taught computer, business, Social Studies, and elective courses.

I am a member of the following professional organizations:
  • Pennsylvania State Librarians Association (PSLA)
  • President, Westmoreland County Association of School Librarians (WCASL)

In 2023, I was named to one of the Pennsylvania Department of Education's standards writing committees.  I have been working with a team of educators across the state to revise the PA Academic Standards in Economics, Career Education and Work, Family and Consumer Science, and to develop new standards in Personal Finance. I am so excited to see Personal Finance standards become a reality in Pennsylvania.
