sometimes getting everyone on the same page is hard it was a success of our students on the line all invested Partners in a school district needs to agree on core foundational beliefs after years of witnessing or incoming kindergarten students entering with varying levels of preparedness we realized we had to do something closer look at our demographics revealed half of our incoming kindergarteners received no formal preschool vacation with Ocasio Grant we hired an ECE liaison to go to these homes and work with the children at no cost to their families these students finish their lessons ready for kindergarten Acadia Grant also provided the perfect fortunate to get Rec Partners at the same table speaking the same language kondapur examination the student that we were gathering at our kindergarten screener we realized half of students attending local preschools for scoring basic or below basic car valuation we decided to analyze the preschool to students are scoring proficient in advance to uncover what they were doing differently to do this we have the current kindergarten teacher to become our new ECE liaison she surveyed in a partner got their perceptions looking for commonalities and strength once these were established she recruited the Penn literacy Network to build upon their best practices all partners and our liaison receive the same PL in math first level coursework these trainings included try-it lessons modeled by the instructor our partners were asked to bring them back to their own classrooms to see how they went the response was unanimous are easy providers building this momentum by starting book shares each teacher began bringing a book they love to teach with so each of the 12 teachers was leaving with 11 new ideas every session maybe nothing demonstrates the United friend are ECE Partners us Bush better than their newly-formed thematic units Library filled with literacy Rich lessons created by each partner it's readily available and accessible to all local ECE providers kto allowed to make each Partners facilities print rich and invite office supplies they needed we're preparing our students for the 21st century so we didn't stop there we are equipped are partners with smart tables and smart boards we purchased hatch tablets and Kindles technology that allowed literacy to be experienced new and exciting ways that are easy Partners weren't satisfied and wanted to do more they joined our district-wide assessment team looking for other positive changes they could Implement they agree to line their curricula using the same terminology and techniques to teach handwriting to invest in the same behavioral screeners to evaluate their students and worked at our elementary teachers to establish a universal preschool Benchmark reflecting the skills needed by kindergarteners in the 21st century but back in the mix for only part of the equation for early School 6 kindergartners and their families also need comfort and confidence as they begin building relationship with us with our preschool Partners we designed interactive story time events where students and their families are surrounded by immersive book-themed experiences for literacy how's the life in Comfort levels rise we also created Shadow a kindergarten buddy day giving her preschoolers their first experience on a school bus in a lunch line and trying various kindergarten activities going to school with the help of their kindergarten buddy we make sure they leave that day smiling and eager to come back while we're proud of the work we've done getting everyone on the same page we're excited to partner with more preschools in the future while our final processes to ensure we provide only the best early childhood education possible to all our students
